SHAPE THE CHANGE
Sickle Cell Stories
SICKLE CELL DISEASE
It's misunderstood, it's hidden and it's life-threatening.
Millions are born with sickle cell all over the world. It's a blood disorder, mainly affecting disadvantaged communities. But it can impact anyone.
This exhibition shines a spotlight on the everyday struggles and resilience of extraordinary people living with this life long condition. As these warriors share their stories, we hope you share them, too. Then together, we can shape change to improve the lives of those living with sickle cell disease.

UK and EU Parliament Exhibitions
The Shape The Change: Sickle Cell Portraits were exhibited in London and later in Brussels, in front of the EU Parliament. The aim was to shed light on the lives and experiences of courageous individuals living with sickle cell disease, often referred to as "Sickle Cell Warriors."
This campaign brought decision-makers together to discuss the specific and unique challenges faced by those living with sickle cell anemia. These challenges become particularly acute during a crisis, when patients seek treatment from healthcare organisations—many of which still lack sufficient knowledge and understanding of the condition.
